Saying Goodbye to Diesel

A short time. A lifetime of love.
There are some stories you never plan to write.
This is one of them.
When Diesel came into our lives, we knew he needed help. What we didn’t fully understand at the time was just how much he was carrying. He had deeper struggles than anyone realized. But none of that changed what mattered most to us. He was ours. And we were his.
From the moment Diesel stepped into our world, he had a safe place. He had steady hands, warm feed, and hearts that were fully invested in his future. We saw his strength. We saw his sweetness. And we saw the fight in him.
When it became clear that his issues were more severe than anyone initially thought, the hardest decision of all was placed in front of us. Loving an animal sometimes means choosing peace over prolonging pain. That choice broke our hearts — but it was made out of love, not defeat.
Diesel left this world surrounded by people who cared deeply for him. He wasn’t alone. He wasn’t unwanted. He wasn’t forgotten. He was loved.
Our time together was short, but it mattered. His story did not end in neglect or uncertainty. It ended in a place of belonging. And that is something we will always be grateful for.
Horses like Diesel remind us why we live this life — the early mornings, the cold nights at the barn, the work, the worry. They depend on us. And when they trust you, when they look at you with that quiet understanding, it changes you.
Diesel changed us.
We are heartbroken. There’s no other way to say it. But we also know that for the time he had with us, he experienced comfort, compassion, and commitment.
And he knew it.
Run free, Diesel. No pain. No struggle. Just open pasture and peace.
You will always be part of our story.
