HORSE DOWN! Diesel’s Scare, a Giant Vet Bill, and the Mare Gang Showdown

Every ranch has “that week” — the one where everything costs money, emotions run high, someone ends up at the vet, and by the end of it you’re wondering if you should start a GoFundMe for your wallet.

For us, that week belonged to Diesel.

After a sudden emergency sent him to the vet for three long days, Diesel is finally home — and this episode takes you along for the full update, the mare drama, and a whole lot of ranch chaos that only Ranchette Dreams can deliver.

Let’s just say…

Karine was stressed.

Tim was laughing.

And the mares? The mares were absolutely plotting.

Welcome to the recap.

Diesel’s Vet Stay: Three Days, One Horse, and a Wallet in Crisis

Diesel gave us a real scare — the kind that has you pacing the barn aisle, refreshing your phone, and silently praying he will be alright.

Three days later, the call finally came: He’s stable. He’s ready to come home.

And just like that, we headed straight to the stables for the emotional reunion.

Diesel looked better, brighter, and ready for some Texas sunshine again. We didn’t realize his homecoming would lead straight into a showdown.

The Mare High Council: Not Amused

Cue Western showdown music. 🤠🔥

Diesel’s first challenge wasn’t recovering from his emergency — it was meeting the mares.

And let’s be honest… they were not impressed.

Karine was nervous.

Tim was having the time of his life.

And the mares? They formed a full-on equine biker gang.

Pinned ears. Side-eye. Squeals.

A dramatic walk-up like they were entering the OK Corral.

Diesel just stared at them like, “Ma’am… I just got out of the hospital. Can we not?”

Back at the Ranch: Tim Helps… Sort Of

Once Diesel was settled, we brought him back to the barn — and that’s when the “teamwork” began.

Karine: “Let’s clean the stalls.”

Tim: “Absolutely! I’ll supervise.”

Because nothing says productivity like Tim leaning on a stall wall like a foreman while Karine does the real work.

Then Tim got promoted (briefly) to feeding duty……where he quickly realized Diesel has opinions about how food should be delivered.

Spoiler: Tim failed the evaluation.

Day 2: The Pasture Introductions (AKA The Standoff)

The next day, it was time for Round 2: Diesel vs. The Mares.

We took Diesel back to the pasture to try again. What started as a calm introduction instantly upgraded to:

  • Kicks

  • Squeals

  • High alert

  • Karine turning into a horse-bodyguard

  • Tim narrating like a wildlife documentary

It was glorious… and chaotic… and basically ranch life in a nutshell.

Ending the Day the Only Way We Know How

After the mare showdown, we wrapped up at the barn and headed home — where Tim promptly declared:

“I’m starving! Karine, can you cook?”

We’ll let you imagine how that turned out. (Hint: not well. 😂)

Thanks for Riding Along with Ranchette Dreams

Diesel is home, healing, and settling in.

The mares are still judging.

Tim is still broke.

Karine is still the hero.

And life on the ranch is still as wild, hilarious, and unpredictable as ever.

If you haven’t watched the full video yet, trust us — you need to see this one.
