Swinging at the Stables: Horses, Happy Hour, and One Perfect Day

Some days at the stables are all about schedules, chores, and checklists. And then there are days like this — the ones that unfold slowly, full of small moments that make you stop and smile.

This day started the way most good barn days do: feeding the girls, making our rounds, and easing into the morning. After that, we took care of Diesel, getting him fed and ready for a slow, relaxed walk down to spend the day with the girls.

No rush, no agenda — just enjoying the walk, the weather, and the familiar sounds of the barn coming to life.

Along the way, we ran into friends at the stables and shared those quick conversations that somehow always turn into laughter. You know the kind — nothing planned, nothing forced, just people catching up in between chores.

Meanwhile, Kay was busy doing what Kay does best — chasing her horse away from the sprinkler because, for reasons only horses understand, standing directly in the spray seemed like the best possible idea. Watching that never gets old.

We slowed things down even more when Tim and Karine decided to give the swings a try. Some of us handled it better than others (Tim would probably like the record to show that swings are not his strong suit 😄). But that’s part of the fun — laughing at ourselves and enjoying the moment.

Diesel eventually made his way out to the pasture, greeted the girls, and immediately celebrated by taking a good roll. Once everyone had eaten, the girls settled in for a proper siesta, proving once again that horses have the whole “work hard, relax harder” thing figured out.

As the day went on, plans for happy hour started to take shape. Burgers were on the menu, the crew was rounded up, and we headed back to the stables later with the grill and food in tow. What followed was one of those easy evenings — good food, barn talk, and friends gathered together as the sun dipped lower.

No big events.No big plans.Just a great day, exactly as it was.

These are the moments we love sharing — the everyday ranch life that doesn’t always make headlines but makes the memories we’ll always keep.
